Utamura's prints combine visual drama with a dizzying reminder of the immensity of the natural world. The series reflects the artist’s interest in the history and politics of nuclear energy, considering the impact of its disposal as well as its revolutionary potential. The prints imagine a natural environment subjected to nuclear radiation exposure.
Selected solo exhibitions include 'The Blue' at Big Orbit Gallery, Buffalo, U.S (2019), 'Weather Constellation' at Rosenberg Gallery, Hofstra University, NY (2018) and 'Holiday at War', Shiseido Art Egg Award, Shiseido Art Gallery, Tokyo (2018).
